Voting Rights, Campaign Finance and the Law of Politics
Our lawyers have substantial expertise in issues arising under the Constitution of the United States, the federal Voting Rights Act, federal and state campaign finance laws, and election/lobbying laws.
Reapportionment/Voting Rights Act
Our attorneys have assisted local government bodies in analyzing Census data and preparing redistricting plans, preparing petitions to and obtaining "preclearance" from the United States Department of Justice under the federal Voting Rights Act, and defending such plans in federal litigation under the Voting Rights Act and the Constitution.
Campaign Finance/Law of Politics
Members of our firm assist business firms, trade associations, and political action committees in compliance and reporting requirements under federal and state law. In addition, we assist clients with compliance and reporting under lobbying registration and reporting laws. Our attorneys are skilled not only in the technical aspects of such laws but the federal and state tax consequences of political activities. We assist clients in establishing internal controls and compliance assurance policies.
