Peter Henderer

Peter L. Henderer practices in the Corporate and Real Estate Practice Groups.  Peter is experienced in handling a wide variety of commercial real estate transactions, including multifamily housing developments utilizing low income housing tax credits under IRC Section 42 and historic rehabilitation tax credits under IRC Section 47, condominium conversion, mixed-use development, commercial leases, telecommunications leases, like-kind exchanges, and issues regarding public utility easements. Recent representative transactions from Peter's practice include closing over $45 million of financing for the acquisition and rehabilitation of a multifamily housing complex; closing over $20 million of financing for the construction of a new mixed use condominium building; structuring and closing on the development of a mixed use project combining the rehabilitation of historic structures with the in-fill development of new affordable housing; closings on public and private sector originated financing; multiple closings on acquisitions and project rehabilitation financing insured by HUD under Section 221(d)(4); and closings on the construction financing and partnership syndications for developments utilizing tax credit equity from low income housing tax credits and historic rehabilitation tax credits.

In 2008, Peter was selected by his peers as a Virginia Rising Star. He is a member of the Richmond Bar Association, Real Estate Section; the District of Columbia Bar; the Delaware Bar; the New Jersey State Bar; and the American Bar Association, Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section, and the Forum on Affordable Housing and Community Development.

Peter speaks on issues on real estate and commercial law, and has spoken at continuing legal education seminars on commercial real estate contracts, commercial leases, and historic rehabilitation tax credits.
